WGT-705A supports media conversion between 1000Base-T and 1000Base-SX/LX through the mini-GBIC module. WGT-705A can be used as standalone units or as a slide-in module to the PLANET Intelligent Media Converter Chassis. With the chassis, WGT-705A can be managed through the RS-232 Console, Telnet, Web and SNMP agent.
The capabilities of WGT-705A include DIP Switch for forced/auto-negotiation and Link pass through function. When LLCF (link loss carry forward) is enabled, the ports do not transmit a link signal until they receive a link signal from the opposite port. When LLR is enabled, the transmitter of the fiber port shuts down if the receiver fails to detect a valid receive link. If one of the optical conductors fails, the converter with LLR enabled will return a no link condition to the link partner. LLCF can be used for either copper or fiber ports. LLR can only be used at fiber port.
As WGT-705A fully complies with IEEE802.3ab 1000Base-T and IEEE802.3z 1000Base-SX/LX, the Gigabit media conversion is simply as simple as plug and play.
